In the fall of 1978, a young man who was not prepared for college came to ETSU from Greenville South Carolina to play baseball. It was only by the grace of God and the mercy of the assistant Dean of Students that took a chance on him, that he got into college. However, through a baseball injury he was red-shirted and God began directing him on a different path. Through some good decisions and the help of several people that God brought across his path… 4 years later he graduated with an accounting degree and more importantly a totally different life.
He became a Christian his junior year through Fellowship of Christian Athletes, took a job with a local CPA firm his senior year and after graduation headed to Atlanta for his first job. He married a woman later described by most that knew her as “The godliest person I have ever knew”, and they raised two amazing and gifted children. He had a successful 15 year career as a CPA for real estate developers before starting his own tax/real estate consulting firm in 1998.
This man has always credited the amazing life he has had to God and the changes that took place in his life during his college years. At the top of the list of how God worked was through the Assistant Dean of Students that took a chance on him. For years he had a desire to give back to ETSU and the Johnson City community, and that desire became a reality in January of 2018 when he bought the old Sig. Ep. Fraternity house on Maple Street to start a non-profit 501-C-3 IRS approved ministry. Included in the objectives of the ministry is an outreach to ETSU students, in hopes that this organization can help students make the right choices, know and grow closer to God and leave college with a better chance of a successful life.
The ministry house now serves as an outreach center for the Grand Lodge Fellowship. The testimony of Brent Sanders can be found under the “Photos and Video” tab of this web-site. A list of ministry activities can also be found under the “Ministries” tab.
